Tradition
Interestingly, lacquer has been used for more than 1,500 years as a material to coat objects. Although lacquer was originally used for preservation, it later became a substance used to decorate and enhance furniture and accessories.
Innovative Techniques
In addition to traditional techniques used for traditional urushi lacquering, Fujii uses latest industrial technologies to combine a wide variety of elements such as urushi, gold, silver, synthetic resin, mirror surface, glass and so on.

Traditional Negoro Nuri
Negoro nuri was developed by the priests of the Japanese temple, Negoro-dera as early as the 14th century. The bowls were first lacquered in black and then in red. Sometimes part of the red was polished away to reveal the black as a form of decoration; sometimes the red just became worn with use and the black underneath came to light with a lovely effect.
Urushi + Glass = Design Name Plate
Urushi lacquering and glasses are not uncommon in Japan however, Fujii’s technology exceeds other competitors. Fujii’s technology enables urushi lacquering on items without color changes for long periods.
